Rooted in Love, Alive in Faith

Today's Reading:  1 John 2:28 - 5:5, Psalm 36
Theme: Identity, Love, & Faith

Reflection:
"See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God!" (1 John 3:1). Stop and let that sink in—Our primary identity in God is as adored children!  Because He loved us first—sending Jesus to die for us—we must also love others, even when it’s hard.  John is clear; if we don't love we do not know God.  Love is the proof we’re God’s kids (4:7-8).

Faith isn’t passive - it’s active, overcoming the world (5:4-5). Psalm 36 paints this beautifully: "Your love, Lord, reaches to the heavens" (v. 5). It’s vast and deep.  No one is outside the reach of God's love today!  Let us drink from that life giving fountain! (v. 9).   While the wicked flatter themselves (v. 2) in frivolous pursuit, we’re called to the worthy pursuit of reflecting God’s love and justice in real, tangible ways.

Application:
Who needs your love today—a friend, a stranger, even an enemy? Your identity as God’s child isn’t just a feel-good title; it’s a call to action. Trust His love to sustain you, and let it spill over. Step out in faith, knowing you’re not fighting the world’s pull alone—Jesus has already won.

Prayer:
Father, thank You for calling me Yours. Fill me with Your love until it overflows to others. Strengthen my faith to overcome fear and doubt. Let me live as Your child, reflecting Your light. Amen.
