Ordinary People, Extraordinary Mission
Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:26-29; Acts 8:4
1 Corinthians 1:26-29 reminds believers that God does not primarily call the powerful, the wise by worldly standards, or the noble. He chooses what the world considers weak and ordinary so that no human being can take credit for what He accomplishes.
Devotional: The apostles stayed in Jerusalem. The gospel went to the world through everyone else, through shopkeepers, parents, tradespeople, widows, and young people. Ordinary people carrying an extraordinary message.
The mission was never designed to rest on a few gifted leaders. It was always meant to belong to all who believe. When those scattered believers arrived in new towns, they did not wait for a pastor to come and preach. They simply talked about Jesus over meals, in marketplaces, and in every ordinary moment of daily life. The gospel advances when ordinary people refuse to stay quiet about what God has done for them.
Reflection: Do you see yourself as someone who carries the gospel, or do you tend to see that as someone else's responsibility? What would change if you fully owned the mission as your own?
Practical Application: This week, practice telling your own story of faith in two to three sentences. Not a theological argument, simply what Jesus has meant to your life. Be ready to share it naturally when the opportunity arises.
