Forgetting What Lies Behind

Day 3: Forgetting What Lies Behind

Reading: Isaiah 43:18-19

Devotional: Paul's instruction to forget what lies behind isn't about amnesia—it's about focus. Your past doesn't cease to exist, but it no longer gets to steer your future.

Some of us are haunted by failures, replaying mistakes until they define us. Others are imprisoned by past successes, unable to release what once worked for what God is doing now. Both backward glances weaken forward pursuit.

God declares, "See, I am doing a new thing!" But we cannot embrace the new while clinging to the old. What are you holding onto that no longer fits God's direction for your life? Perhaps it's a failure that makes you feel disqualified. Perhaps it's a plan you loved but God is redirecting.

Pursuit costs you the future you imagined so you can step into the one God is calling you toward. Today, release your grip.
