When Brokenness Becomes Normal

When Brokenness Becomes Normal

Reading: Acts 3:1-3; Isaiah 35:3-6

Devotional: We possess an alarming ability to adapt to dysfunction. Like a flickering light that eventually fades into the background, we can normalize spiritual brokenness in our lives and in those around us. The lame man at the Beautiful Gate had spent forty years in the same condition—and so had everyone who walked past him daily. Dysfunction had become scenery.

What "flickering lights" have you grown accustomed to? What pain, addiction, or spiritual limitation has become so familiar that you've stopped expecting change? God never intended for you to adapt to brokenness. Today, ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to areas where you've settled for survival instead of transformation. The first step toward healing is refusing to call brokenness normal.

Reflection Question: What area of spiritual brokenness have I normalized that God wants to address?
