Praying Through Pressure

Praying Through Pressure

Reading: Acts 4:23-31; Philippians 4:6-7

Devotional: Notice what Peter and John didn't pray for: comfort, relief, or the removal of threats. Instead, they asked for more boldness—the very thing that got them arrested! Their goal wasn't an easier life but the advancement of God's message.

How different from our prayers that often focus on personal comfort. They began by acknowledging God's sovereignty, then brought their situation honestly before Him, and finally asked for courage to continue the mission.

The result? The place shook, they were filled with the Holy Spirit again, and they spoke with even greater boldness. What if we prayed less for our circumstances to change and more for God to use us powerfully within them? Today, shift your prayers from seeking comfort to seeking courage for the mission.
