Bringing Our First and Best
Reading: Proverbs 3:9-10; Malachi 3:8-10
Devotional: The Magi didn't tip Jesus—they opened their treasures. They brought their first and finest, not their spare and leftover. This challenges how we approach our King. Does Jesus get the first line of your budget or the last? Your most focused moments or your final exhausted minutes? Your best talents or whatever's convenient? The test of true recognition is the tribute we bring. When we give God our leftovers, we're essentially crowning Herod—the false kings of comfort, security, and self-preservation. But when we give our first and best, we crown Jesus as Lord. Your treasure, time, and talent are tests of allegiance. What you give first reveals who you truly worship. This week, identify one area where you've been giving Jesus your "rest" instead of your "best," and make a change.
Reflection Question: Am I bringing Jesus my best or whatever costs me the least?
