Hungry for More
Reading: Acts 8:14-17; Romans 8:14-16
Devotional: The Samaritans were genuinely saved. Their faith was real and their baptism was public. Yet the apostles were sent because there was still more. The Holy Spirit who indwells every believer at salvation also empowers believers for public witness and ministry. These are not the same experience. Romans 8:15 describes the Spirit of adoption that makes you a child of God.
But throughout Acts, those already belonging to Jesus keep encountering fresh, empowering movements of the Holy Spirit. Salvation is complete. But your experience of the Spirit's power is never exhausted. Do not be content with only believing. Seek to be empowered.
Reflection: Are you hungry for more of the Holy Spirit in your life, beyond personal growth and into active, empowered witness?
